100% LISBETH GRUWEZ, Tandem Douai Arras
5 - 7 November 2014
Lisbeth Gruwez has worked with Wim Vandekeybus, Siri Larbi Cherkaoui, Jan Lauwers and, of course, Jan Fabre, who created the solo Quando l’uomo principale è une donna for her. At the age of 37, this sublime dancer, trained at P.A.R.T.S., Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker’s school in Brussels, is now an artist in her own right. Voetvolk, the name of the company she founded in 2007 with her accomplice, the composer Maarten van Cauwenberghe, means infantry because, they say, “we want to throw our bodies into battle without technical tricks“. And that is what they are working towards.
After the solo It’s going to get worse and worse and worse, my friend, presented in 1012 at both the Théâtre d’Arras and the Hippodrome de Douai, they are back this season with two new projects: AH/HA and Lisbeth Gruwez dances Bob Dylan, presented in avant-première. We took advantage of this opportunity to give the dancer and the musician a carte blanche, who, for three evenings, will be coming to our venues with artists who are close to their galaxy and whose universe, madness and genius they love. The result is a myriad of singular and audacious proposals, a crazy and underground cabinet of curiosities. From New York to Rome, from Brussels to Paris, enter the surprising worlds of Trajal Harrell, Jan Fabre and Antony Rizzi, het KIP, Coraline Lamaison, Annabelle Chambon and Bernard van Eeghem.
